Amphibious Excavator Track Pad
The design and makeup of the amphibious excavator fitted with the UHMWPE Track Pads will tremendously improve the mobility and speed of the machine.
UHMWPE stands for Ultra High Molecular Polyethylene, has extremely long chains, with a molecular mass usually between 3.5 and 7.5 million amu. The longer chain serves to transfer load more effectively to the polymer backbone by strengthening intermolecular interactions. This results in a very tough material, with the highest impact strength of any thermoplastic presently made.
UHMWPE is highly resistant to corrosive chemicals, has extremely low moisture absorption and a very low coefficient of friction, is self-lubricating; and is highly resistant to abrasion, in some forms being 15 times more resistant to abrasion than carbon steel.
Generally, UHMWPE track pads are lighter in weight as compared to the steel track pads. For a 20 ton class amphibious excavator moving on UHMWPE track shoes, it will generally reduce the weight of the whole machine by 2.2 tons.
Below are the benefits of UHMWPE Track Pads:
1) Due to flexibility nature of the UHMWPE, the UHMWPE Track Pads will bounce back to its original position while the Steel track pads will be bent easily if travelling over bigger rock stone.
